About us

Abco Master Lock and Key Co. has been in the Security business since 1965. We were then located on Queens Boulevard, six blocks from our present location, on Austin Street where we have been since 1973. Abco Master Lock and Key Co. has always been dedicated to providing the best service at the most competitive prices. We stress service and quality products above all else. Our motto has always been "ask the family that has used our service." And most of the families in the area know us, and use our services.

When entrusting a company to provide security for your family and valuables, the most important consideration is the people doing the work. Are the people coming into your home licensed, bonded, insured and knowledgeable? Have they been around and what is their track record.
It is imperative that the shop you deal with have an actual location where you can inspect the products and personnel for yourself and not just a telephone number. If a problem arises is there a store, where you can go to discuss the problem with the owner? Abco Master Lock and Key Co. stands behind and guarantee's all its work. Before selecting a company, call the Better Business Bureau and ask for the company's record.

Abco Master Lock and Key Co. provides service 24 hours a day using cell phones at night and holidays so you speak to an actual locksmith and not just an answering service. We also specialize in cutting hard to duplicate keys, such as the GM, vehicle anti-theft system "vats" keys, Lexus, Mercedes and all foreign car keys, Fichett, Mul-t-lock and all levels of Medeco security keys.

Hello my name is Alan Glick I am the owner of Abco Master Lock and Key Co. I started in the security business almost 40 years ago. Back then, you had to go through a two year apprenticeship, before you could get a locksmith license. Today, all you need is two letters of reference from a locksmith, the application forms and the license fee.

I began working in the Bronx for Mel's Key Shop right out of school. Then entered the Service where while doing a tour of duty in Europe, I received top security clearance. In the service I worked in different situations that required security expertise. This was my real impetus for entering the security business.

After leaving the Service and doing a two year apprenticeship to receive my locksmith and key maker licenses, I decided to open my own shop. I had to choose a name for my shop and decided to include my first initial and my wife's Barbara's first initial, AB Company, which became Abco. I then added Master to imply the masterful job we would try to do for all the customers we hoped we would soon have. I was not disappointed, the customers came and kept coming back, and have continued to do so for the last thirty years. Come visit me at AbcoMaster Lock and Key Co. 70-54 Austin St. Forest Hills, you will always find me there.
