What is Body Tuning?

For some people, physical therapy means going to an office where they may have a short hands on experience with the therapist and then are given strengthening exercises in a gym-like setting followed by ice therapy.

Shmuel Tatz's approach to healing the body is something entirely different. He calls his work "Body Tuning." Just as musicians tune their instruments until they are perfectly in tune, Shmuel Tatz does the same for the human body. He says: "Only when the body is in tune can it function normally."

First, Shmuel observes his client. Then with physical touch he moves the body, both soft tissue and joints, to evaluate its restrictions. Though clients tell him their stories, he prefers to listen to their bodies with his learned hands. Silence enables him to think and feel the problems in the body. What he sees and feels is conveyed to the client and if he sees that there is damage that needs repair, he will refer the client to a physician. The goal of Body Tuning is simple: to ease the pain and suffering and send the client back into the world healed in as far as it is possible to do so.

Dr. Tatz blends the best of Western physical therapy and Eastern healing arts. He also uses reflexo-physiotherapy (using modalities at acupuncture points.) Tatz says that the eclectic mix of therapies is designed to bring peace to the body and keep it free of pain. To that end he includes F.D.A approved treatments such as magnet therapy, electro-cranial stimulation, electro-vibration, cold laser and ultrasound. He also re-educates clients in breathing techniques and movement.
