Clean rooms, green grounds but poor breakfast
It is a nice place to stay. I had stayed with my hubby and our two daughters. The hotel has lots of greenery with plenty of tropical flowers, plants and a fountain. Room was fine and clean. It had a microwave and refrigerator. Bed was comfortable to sleep on. Continental breakfast was bad! They definitely need to improve on it. On some occasions, we preferred to have breakfast outside.
Staff is nice. They were friendly with us even though we checked in late at night. My daughters loved playing in the large swimming pool. Hotel is fine, considering the unbeatable prices it offers. If the hotel staff make some improvements with the breakfast they offer, it would be a lot better!

Good for the budget
We were a bunch of friends traveling on a tight budget. California Suites hotel was the best option for us. We had got great discounts on our 5 days stay. Microwave and refrigerator in our room helped us save some money on few meals. Service was much better than expected. Staff is nice.
Best part is the hotel's location. Most of our time was spent on beaches. And this hotel is close to beaches, airport and the popular Balboa Park. Large warm swimming pool is refreshing. But they could improve the continental breakfast. This hotel is ideal for budget travelers.

Good place for budget minded
California Suites hotel is good for budget travelers. I had stayed with two friends for 5 nights. We got the best price possible. Our room was ok with lot of space to walk around. Bed was comfortable and the closet had built in shelves which were useful.
Microwave and refrigerator saved us a bit of money. But there were no dishes in the kitchen. Continental breakfast was simple and sufficient. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The landscaped garden was pretty but not very clean. We found lots of discarded butts in the garden. It is good motel for budget minded. There are several good restaurants and tourist attractions nearby. The location is convenient, the best you can get at such low room rates.
