There are no contraindications and patients do not have to wait to eat or drink. Nitrous Oxide: Commonly known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a safe form of inhalation sedation. Used in combination with oxygen, it is administered thru a scented nosepiece. Onset is rapid and effects dissipate quickly when it is removed. There are no contraindications other than if you have breathing difficulties or are pregnant.
