Point Acupuncture

Welcome to Point Acupuncture. I AM Doctor Martha Elser. I have been practicing as a Doctor of Homeopathy and a Licensed Acupuncturist for 25 years. I have a background in Chinese Nutrition and have written the book, EATING HEALTHY WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW HOW: A Simple Guide To Your Vegetarian Kitchen.
I began studying acupuncture after listening to an herbologist describe altering Chinese herb formulas to match the symptoms of a patient with a common cold. For instance, one person may have a cold with an earache; while another may have a cold with a cough; while still another may have a cold with achy muscles. Each one could receive the basic formula but different herbs would be added or subtracted for her specific complaint. I really liked how the medicine fit the person and so I enrolled in school.
After I received my Masters at Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine and passed the board exam for my license, I went to Japan and studied with an acupuncturist who was also a medical doctor from China.
When I returned to the States, I joined my mother in her acupuncture practice.
When I begin working with you, I look for the common thread that connects all the symptoms together because the body is one unit, what affects one area many times shows up in another area of the body. I use tongue diagnosis, pulse diagnosis, urine and saliva analysis, Contact Reflex Analysis and diet evaluation to understand your body. Once I find a connection, I then make recommendations that will help you feel better. These can include acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Chinese nutrition, homeopathic remedies, talking and movement.
