My story is a long one but I promise that it will be very helpful for you to choose the right furniture store. Me and my husband went to look for a couch and a loveseat but we didn't have that much money to buy expensive ones. We moved to a new apartment and expenses forced us to go to a small store instead to a big one but that was our biggest mistake. We looked for couches at the Versailles Furniture Corp. but I didn't like anything in particular. Anyhow, the store manager, Jeremiah convinced us to leave a $20 deposit and come at another time. Finally, we thought not to buy new couches so my husband went to the store to get the $20 but the manager convinced him again (he's really good at that).
We finally chose one that was not in the store but they would get it through Ashley's Furniture. I saw it in the picture and the manager took its code and placed the order online.
Here starts the story: We ordered the couches in July 22, 2012 and got them in September 14, 2012 which is almost in 8 weeks. They told us that we would get the couches within two weeks but nothing. On the day of the supposed delivery I rented a truck but not only I didn't get a call from them telling me that the merchandise had arrived but instead I had to call them. When I called they said that they didn't have it so I told them that I rented the truck and that they were supposed to call me. I was frustrated but then I thought things happen and it's fine. They told me that they would get it a week later. I agreed and told them please please call me. They never called me so I had to call them on the day of the supposed delivery date but they lied to me again saying that Ashley didn't have them. I was really mad because I gave the old couches away and we had no place to sit. My daughter layed on the floor all the time. Imagine that the lies happened every week from the manager and then the owner himself, Sal. He also promised me that he would give me a gift because of the lateness but I never got anything. In addition, he promised that the delivery was at no cost since it was not my fault but later he was asking for money. Then the day of the delivery came and we couldn't believe that we would get them until the guy came at the door. I couldn't hide the happiness that I felt. The guy carried them in with my husband and he didn't want to leave without checking at them first. When he opened the box and when my husband and my saw the design we both said at the same time: this is not the couches that we ordered. The guy called the owner and I started talking to him. I told him what happened and he said that that wasn't true because the code that was on the receipt was the one that we ordered. I said that I know I can tell you the picture of the couch but I was not the one who gave your manager the code because you are the ones who know the codes. He got frustrated and started yelling at me then my husband got the phone and he did the same thing with my husband. He also said that according to him we didn't like the couches but my husband told him that how was it possible that we were so patient after 8 weeks and then tell them that we didn't like the couches; it didn't make sense. It was a pointless conversation so I called 311 who helped me to file a customer complain that I never did in my life. The complain was because they didn't want to give us a refund unless they kept 30% of the price of the couches and $100 or more for the delivery.
