ETL Engineer at CitySquares
CitySquares, a growing Internet company in Boston’s South End, is seeking to fill a full time ETL position. CitySquares has an extensive MySQL database with over 14 million business mashed up with over 40,000 locations. We are looking for an engineer to assist the company in updating this data by creating a fully automated application to eliminate unnecessary overhead associated with monthly updates. The candidate will also be expected to provide new, efficient and repeatable solutions for regular database updates. The ETL should be an expert in LAMP environments and be able to work extensively with complex queries and datasets.
Responsibilities
- Create an application to update businesses and location data
- Parse data from multiple different data sources and formats
- Mash up data from vastly different datasets
- Normalize and clean dirty datasets
- Research town/city incorporation practices per state
- Continuous audits and analysis of the data and MySQL to ensure quality data and performance
- CS background with OOP experience
- Expert knowledge of one of the following languages: Python, C/C++, Java, etc.
- Expert knowledge of SQL, specifically MySQL
- Expert knowledge of scripting
- Experience with optimization and performance tuning
- Ensure database standards, best practices and technical quality are met and maintained
- Ability to change direction on the fly
