FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
November 12, 2008
Boston, MA – According to a recent New York Times article, local advertisers will spend close to $13 billion online this year, almost five times what they spent in 2004. Only 27% is expected to go to newspaper-owned websites. Where are local businesses advertising? More and more businesses in the northeast are going the hyper-local search route with companies like CitySquares.com.
Borrell Associates, a media research firm, cites a higher rate of return for advertisers on “city-specific resource and community sites”—another positive indication that hyper-local players like CitySquares have more to offer local businesses.
In less than one year, CitySquares has boosted monthly traffic from 40,000 unique visitors to over one million. With the recent announcement of new investments from Mark Cuban and Jonathan Kraft, CitySquares is preparing for a national expansion in the 2Q 2009, increasing current business listings from 1.5 million to 16 million.
This is what CitySquares’ clients are saying:
“CitySquares has been great for business,” says David Leschinsky, owner of Eureka! Puzzles and Games in Brookline, MA. “CitySquares lets me reach out to customers and give them a real taste of what can be found in our store. Not only has it increased Web sales, but my local business has benefited as well.” (Eureka! CitySquares page)
Tracey Schmitt, owner of Kiddie Designs, a New-Jersey based design service serving the Tri-State area, says, “Kiddie Designs relies on word-of-mouth advertising. CitySquares helps me take that to the next level not only through their great SEO but also through reviews on their site. Now customers can view my entire portfolio online and feel secure when placing online orders.” (Kiddie Designs CitySquares page)
“I’ve been with CitySquares since reopening in July of 2008,” says Melissa Bennett, owner of French Dressing, a lingerie boutique in Boston. “Opening a store in a struggling economy is not an easy task. Not only did CitySquares provide me with a quick online presence, they helped me promote our new ownership by featuring my re-opening party in their monthly newsletter. CitySquares has provided me a strong client base of local repeat customers at a price I can afford.” (French Dressing CitySquares page)
CitySquares allows businesses to fully customize their pages using SEO tools, content management, content syndication, email newsletters and video at an affordable price. CitySquares is proving that hyper-local search advertising works.
