My wife and I managed to get ourselves a spot at the bar for dinner on Friday night at about 8:45. If we had more people with us I don't think we would have gotten in so reservations are definitely recommended. It was hot in there but that kind of adds to the atmosphere actually. There's something very earthy and organic about Black Eyed Susan's. Very Nantucket indeed. We brought a bottle of wine with us, which was kindly opened and handled by our waiter. I had the tune tartare for an appetizer which was one of the best I'd ever had, followed by the clam linguine with white wine sauce. That was definitely one of the best seafood pasta dishes I've ever had! The following Sunday morning we waited in line for about 45 minutes for their brunch. I don't really do that often, at all, but this was well worth the wait! The french toast is not ordinary at all, it's sourdough french bread with orange Jack Daniels butter and cinnamon pecans! Amazing restaurant! One of THE best places to grab breakfast or dinner on the island. The food is worth waiting for, the service is stellar, and I love bringing a bottle of my favorite wine to enjoy with dinner. Be prepared however to wait a while to get a taste of their delicious breakfast and brunch dishes, but once you are in, the service is fast and friendly. If you are lucky and get a seat at the bar, watching the chef's prepare your meal with ease is also entertaining as you see all the favorite dishes flying out of the line!

After spending 4th of July weekend on Nantucket I must say that Black Eyed Susan's was one of the highlights of the weekend. This very small restaurant is open for dinner and brunch. Brunch is first come first serve, expect a wait and a line to get on the waiting list. The thai egg scramble is seriously worth waiting for. A dinner reservation is even more difficult to come by. Black Eyed Susans a.k.a. Bessy's has three seating's a 6'o clock, in which you can call and make reservations for, and the 7:30 and 9. For these heavily sought after times you must show up a pre 6'o clock that day wait in line and make your reservation. No Phone calls! we arrived at 5:30 and waited in line for a half hour for the very last reservation of the evening. Crazy...but not really. The food prepared right in front of your eyes in the exhibition kitchen is seriously noteworthy. I had the coconut salmon with fingerling potato's and am still talking about it days later. Everything else looked just as...
