I called Valley Health Medical Group in Hawthorne, confirmed they take my insurance and made an appt. When I got to the office, the staff behind the desk was less then friendly. Four people were standing around and eventually someone came over and asked what time my appt was for. No good evening no hello. That must be too difficult for them. They gave me paperwork to fill out and I went and sat down. When I brought my completed paperwork up to the receptionist, she told me they would not honor my appt because my insurance card showed another PCP listed. Since my insurance doesnt require referrals, I can go to any doctor I want as long as they participate with my insurance. Which they do. I tried to explain that to two people in the office. Instead of calling my insurance company, or offering to call my insurance company they refused me. And were quite rude about it. I called my insurance company from the parking lot and confirmed, the office staff was wrong and they...
I've been here several times and the doctors are very nice, but the receptionists (both on the phone and in person) are extremely rude. For example, I had a serious infection that needs to be treated urgently - if it wasn't, it could've lead to much worse, long-term problems. Not only was the medication that I was originally perscribed not working, but the symptoms were getting consistently worse. When I called to speak with the doctor about changing my medication, I was told he was with a patient and would call when he was done. 2 1/2 hours later, I was still in pain and had received zero response. Upon calling again to ask when I would be hearing from the physician, the woman on the phone practically hung up on me after saying he would call when he was done. I have never been spoken to in such an unprofessional way before by anyone at a facility that is responsible for the health of an individual.
Also, they don't seem to turn their Office is Closed phone message off until long...
