Sanghuang is a medicinal fungus (a type of Phoebe fungus) that grows on broad-leaved trees such as mulberry and poplar. It is not a plant, nor is it an insect-based medicine. It has been recorded in traditional Chinese medicine for a long time, and has recently become popular again due to research on health care and anti-tumor effects.
