Dan Karp of Acupuncture Associates in Quincy has been practicing both Japanese and Chinese styles of acupuncture since 1982. Acupuncture is considered a viable alternative to traditional medicine by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the National Institute of Health (NIH); it has been embraced throughout the world due to its proven effectiveness and is recognized as an effective, non invasive tool to treat and prevent illness.

Acupuncture is a system of health care which originated in China more than 3000 years ago. It is used for the diagnosis and treatment of physical emotional, and psychological disorders. Acupuncture is both an art and science based on natural law, its philosophy is to heal safely, gently, and without side effects. Since acupuncture promotes the body’s natural healing ability, most conditions can be corrected or improved; it powerfully heals and balances the body and restores it to a natural state of health and well being.

Dan Karp is careful to assess the needs of each individual patient in a gentle and compassionate manner. “Each patient responds in a unique manner to acupuncture treatment. It is my belief that I must be aware of the individuality and uniqueness of each patient and have the skill and knowledge to heal those who come to me.” Despite popular belief Acupuncture treatments are totally painless, presterilized and disposable needles are used at all times. For patients who are uncomfortable with needles there are effective techniques that can be performed without the use needles.
