Agora House For Men & Women in Gainesville is a terrible and unprofessionally operated business. There is a different set of managers than the ones who founded this business currently operating the daily actions. This place is not a healthy environment to try to get clean. It is actually a brutal and savage place from my horrible experience of residing in this place for several excruciating months. They have no real world experience in the recovery business. Just ask to see the onsite operators certifications and degrees. Ask to see the permits and licenses for the residence in which you will serve your sentence. Ask a lot of questions because I was naive and thought that because my court approved these unscrupulous operators, it would be a legitimate residential treatment center. This is no more than a glorified boarding house way out of town that makes the boarders attend daily meetings at the local church for mandatory daily 12-step AA meetings. You get no legitimate addiction treatment and you will get no valid counseling. Please do not make this commitment to these unethical business operators until you go and visit these horrible domiciles that they will be housing you. Do not be fooled by the fancy and misleading Face book page that shows all the wonderful camping and fishing and road races that you are supposed to believe will make your stay in this boarding house so wonderful. Please go visit some of the new state of the art commercial apartment buildings being run by legitimate residential resources inside the city limits. The same amount of money can get you real treatment in a nice facility. Keep looking people. This place is a rundown, overcrowded, outdated, inconveniently located boarding house. My year long stay here was miserable and expensive. My treatment was nonexistent and was only a daily church provided 12-step AA meeting. They facility is so far out of town that it is impossible to succeed with a suspended license. We had 1 automobile for 12+ men on several occasions. Once you enroll, you are stuck because many courts will not allow you to transfer once you begin. I would not put my own child in this savage and hostile environment. I regret not doing my research before getting in a contact agreement with these unscrupulous and unethical individuals.
