About us

Aubrey Carpenter, PhD, is a clinical psychologist at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. She primarily sees adolescents with eating disorders in her role as staff psychologist in the outpatient multidisciplinary Eating Disorders Consultation Clinic (EDCC). However, she also has experiences seeing patients with child and adolescent anxiety, depression, OCD, as well as those coping with chronic illness such as Type 1 Diabetes. Dr. Carpenter supports the treatment of her patients with evidence-based approaches to treatment for the presenting problems, including cognitive behavioral therapy and family-based treatment for adolescent anorexia. She also has experience providing Exposure and Response prevention for OCD and parent training for young children with behavioral problems, and routinely uses telehealth platforms.

To bolster her practice and care of patients, Dr. Carpenter works with a multidisciplinary medical team to conduct initial evaluations of presenting problems and provide evidence-based therapy for adolescent eating disorders. While the conditions that she most often sees typically warrant a cognitive behavioral and/or family-based treatment approach, she enjoys collaborating with the treatment team to determine the best treatment plan for each individual and their families. Dr. Carpenter strives to help her patients and their families feel understood and supported in their efforts to improve well-being and overall functioning.

Her research interests include telehealth (videoconferencing-based therapy) for a variety of pediatric conditions and family involvement and parenting factors in cognitive behavioral therapy interventions for youth. Read her published article's on PubMed.
