Please have your insurance cards with you so that we may verify your patient benefits prior to treatment. If areas of abnormal spinal function are identified, Dr. Brunjes will recommend a chiropractic care program, including spinal adjustments. Your plan of care is based upon your age, condition, life style, and unique spinal problem(s). Specific Adjustments… The primary course of care will be specific chiropractic adjustments. This will help return individual spinal bones to their proper motion and position. There are hundreds of ways of using carefully directed and controlled pressure to restore better position and motion to ‘stuck’ or fixated spinal joints. This may require a quick thrust, or in other instances a slow, constant pressure. Sometimes, only one area of the spine is adjusted, and other times the entire spine will receive attention. Dr. Brunjes will sometimes use only her hands, while at other times she will use a special table or instruments. Sometimes a patient’s own body weight is used. But once again, the adjusting procedure will be decided based on a patient’s individual needs. Some adjusting approaches can result in a faint ‘popping’ sound. This sound is created by the shifting of gas and fluid in the joints. The presence or ‘loudness’ of this sound has little meaning and varies with each patient. Other procedures…. Dr. Brunjes may recommend additional procedures or suggest other ways to help reduce inflammation, provide relief, or enhance the healing process. These may include ice, heat, muscle and soft tissue rehabilitation, nutritional advice, exercises, or other procedures. Chiropractic Care is Safe… Chiropractic adjustments are safer than aspirin, muscle relaxers, and back surgery. Dozens of research studies have documented the safety and effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments. When compared with traditional approaches, chiropractic care is remarkably safe. In fact, millions of chiropractic adjustments are safely delivered to satisfied patients every day! Naturally, adjusting methods are modified for each patient’s size, weight and condition. Dr. Ashley Brunjes, a graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri, received her Doctor of Chiropractic in April 2008. She also received a Bachelors of Human Biology from Logan in August 2006. As a way of furthering her studies she recently earned her Masters of Sport Injury and Rehabilitation degree at Logan. Dr. Brunjes completed her internship at the VA Medical Center – Jefferson Barracks, the Logan Student Health Center, and the Logan Health Centers Outpatient Clinic at South Roads. A native Texan, Dr. Brunjes attended South Plains University and Texas Tech University before continuing her studies at Logan. She is a graduate of Lubbock High School in Lubbock, Texas. While attending college, she became interested in chiropractic care when she worked as an office manager for a chiropractic office in Lubbock. As she saw the results, and how chiropractic care can impact lives, she changed her major and began preparing for a career as a chiropractor. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Brunjes loves to sing, enjoy time with her husband, Dan Brunjes, and visit with her nephews, neice, and the rest of her family.
