About us

Barbara Davenport, CNM, is a certified nurse midwife at Prisma Health in Greenville, South Carolina. She received her nursing degree from Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in Ohio, a bachelor's in nursing from the University of Michigan and her master's degree in midwifery from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Davenport has been a nurse midwife for 38 years and celebrated more than 2,000 births. Working with expecting families is a true joy; helping them understand the changes in pregnancy, how to deal with the discomforts, offering choices in labor and supporting women through the labor, whether it’s water birth or an epidural. She believes each woman deserves an appointment with enough time to have all her questions answered and to secure health information needed for a healthy birth.

She and her husband have three adult children and are enjoying being grandparents. She enjoys exercise, tennis, hiking and especially Bible study and time with her church family.
