I had some plumbing repair work that required opening up walls and pulling up the kitchen floor. Upon completion of the plumbing work, the floor and the walls were supposed to be replaced. The walls and the floor were installed in a slipshod manner - the previous floor was only partially removed and the new floor was laid on top resulting in remarkable unevenness and several electrical outlets and the power source for the microwave were walled in requiring breaking through to locate them. He billed this work out at $680 per day for ten days (7 days for 500 SF of drywall and 3 days for 190 SF of Pergo flooring) plus $2,200 for materials. When I questioned the charges and the floor’s unevenness, he walked off the job having been paid over 90% of the estimate requiring me to scramble to hire new contractors to finish the job and repair his shoddy work. My advice would be to find someone else. He was unprofessional and tried to cut a lot of corners.
