I do not recommend Bob Taylor Construction out of Broomfield, Colorado for any type of deck and stair construction. He built the frame for our deck but the frame was not resting on the foundation post. We fired him before he could complete the deck, due to his comment 'that no one will see that'. He seems to not care about the quality of his work.

We hired Bob to build a new deck and replace existing concrete stairs with Trex. We paid him $1000 deposit. This is what we got. Day 1 -demolished the existing concrete stairs and piled it in the driveway. Before he left that day, he said the concrete guy would come by and remove it. Day 2 - Bob and his helper dug 5 post holes— no lines and stakes were used to make sure the caissons were going to be square. The concrete is still in my driveway and Bob made excuses as to why it was not being removed and promised he would get it removed soon. Bob left that day before the inspector could view the holes. Bob stated in a contract that he would be there for all of the inspections. He missed the first one. Day 3- Bob's helper cuts my siding very sloppily and uneven, then attaches the ledger to the wood part of the house foundation, but failed to put the flashing on first. My husband asked Bob why the flashing was not installed prior to the ledger being screwed into the side of my home, and Bob ignored the question. The concrete is still in my driveway. Day 4- Saturday- Bob said he would stop by and remove the concrete debris. He did not do as promised. Day 5-Sunday -no work, I completely understand as this is Sunday. Day 6- His 4th day on the job. He and his helper start building a framework for the deck. They did not use any type of marking, they just winged it. They did not use any galvanized nails in the framing. I should mention again, that the concrete debris is still in my driveway and no flashing was put on. My husband got home that evening, saw the work that was done by Bob and his helper, and was very disappointed. The framework was not straight and it was not sitting on the posts. He used old siding off our house as a shim. No flashing was ever put up by Bob or his helper. We fired him that evening. Just to let you know, Bob said that no one would see the frame not sitting on the post. Duh, isn’t that part of the deck foundation. He also said he was not responsible for retaining the dirt under the stairs. He said he was only responsible for building a deck and stairs, not the dirt foundation under it. This dirt will erode away onto my driveway. Bob said we(homeowner) will have to retain the earth under the stairs. If I would have known that he did not care if the frame was sitting on the post and the foundation under the stairs and deck was not Bob’s responsibility and that he would lie about removing the concrete, I would never have hired him. So if you used Bob Taylor Construction out of Broomfield Colorado, please check your deck and the type of nails that were used and how it was attached to your home. Bob did not do his work on our project by code -per city inspector. I would not recommend Bob Taylor Construction for any type of deck and/or stairs construction. I have photos to show his shoddy work. We do not recommend Bob Taylor Construction out of Broomfield, Colorado for your deck/stair construction.
