Brain Child Learning Center

Brain Child started in Seattle in 1988. The first location was in the basement of the founder’s house. Soon, class sizes grew, and the basement was no longer able to accommodate all the students. Brain Child classes were moved to the Lake City Community Center. This was not a permanent location since the rooms were rented on a use-by-use basis. Brain Child moved into its current location in 2008. Lake City operates three days a week: Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Many parents enroll their children at Brain Child to help prepare them for the Seattle Public School District’s gifted program. Seattle Public Schools offer various programs designed to provide advanced curricula for students from elementary to high school. Formerly known as APP (Accelerated Progress Program), Highly Capable Cohort (HCC) provides a rigorous curriculum that challenges students to study two grade levels ahead of general education. Students who do not qualify for HCC, but are highly capable students may join Spectrum. The Spectrum program was designed for students who perform above average for their grade level, and it may require more advanced work to remain engaged. Spectrum students study one grade level ahead of general education.
Student applications for consideration in these programs must be submitted in fall; please contact Seattle Public Schools if you would like to enroll. Brain Child offers Early Learners Math and English to help students be eligible for these programs. Students will practice test taking strategies and skills as they work towards a deep understanding of concepts and applications. Extra CogAT practice is complimentary and offered during the Fall Quarter and part of Winter Quarter at no extra charge to provide students with additional preparation before the test.
At the Brain Child Learning Center in Seattle, our mission is to provide instruction for the following courses: Early Learners English, Intensive English, Early Learners Math, Intensive Math, and Mental Calculation. The Brain Child Learning Center provides an opportunity for students to take these advanced math and language training programs that may not be offered at their school. It is one of the best ways to prepare for the highest scores on the highly capable test or any other test a student may encounter such as the college entrance exams.
