Breakaway Adventures in Wrangell-petersburg is pretending to be a great company for bear tours, but they lied to us. They said we would have a 7-8 hour tour which would include 4-5 hours of bear viewing. That's why we scheduled a fly in the night before and an expected day of touring with them and then an overnight before we flew out, at a cost of hundreds of dollars. Eric, the owner, said he would work with our schedule. He absolutely did not. Instead of 4 or 5 hours of bear viewing, we had ONLY TWO!!! We were never warned in advance. He has a fleet of boats, so we thought if some people had to leave early, he could take them on another boat. We thought he was working with our schedule, and the schedule he publishes on line. We were shocked and extremely disappointed when his guides started grabbing people at the bear viewing after just two hours telling them we had to leave immediately. We contacted Eric by phone and email, but never got a response. Apparently his spiel about tailoring the tour to your schedule is a meaningless sales pitch. He's just wants your money. Our friends who went with Alaska Vistas had 6 hours of bear viewing. Try them for your adventure.
