About us
Dr. Carvalho is the Chief of Obstetric Anesthesiology and Maternal Health, Vice Chair of Faculty Development, and Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, Stanford University Medical Center. He is the Past President of the Society of Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP), and founder the SOAP Center of Excellence for Obstetric Anesthesia Care Designation. He has published extensively in the field of Obstetric Anesthesia with over 350 peer-reviewed articles, editorials, reviews, book chapters and commentaries. He has received several NIH, pharmaceutical and institutional grants, and won numerous research awards including three Best Research Papers at SOAP scientific meetings. Dr.
