About us
Brian Redmond, MD, joined Blue Ridge Orthopedics in 2002. He graduated summa cum laude with a Biology degree from Ripon College, where he also played four years of NCAA III varsity football and served as team captain. He graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin Medical School (MD, 1992), and completed his orthopedic surgical residency at the University of Michigan (1997), where he worked with all the University of Michigan sports teams. Dr. Redmond completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Minneapolis TRIA Sports Medicine Center (1998), where he worked with the University of Minnesota, Hamelin University, and was a member of the medical staff for the Minnesota Vikings, Timberwolves, and Twins. He also worked with the Minnesota Wild, USA hockey, Figure Skating World Championships(1998) and provided medical coverage for the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, and the Division III Track and Field National Championships. Prior to joining Blue Ridge Orthopedics, Dr. Redmond practiced in Battle Creek, Michigan, where he served as the head team orthopedic surgeon for Albion College and the Michigan Battle Cats, a Houston Astros minor league team (1998-2002).
As a member of the Blue Ridge Orthopedics sports medicine staff, Dr. Redmond provides specialized care for several area high school and college athletic teams, as well as general orthopedic and trauma care to active persons of all ages. He is the head team orthopedic surgeon to Southern Weslyan University (2016-present), the head team physician for Pickens High School (2002-present), and assists in the care of Clemson University athletes and students.
Dr. Redmond is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, with a specialty certification in Orthopedic Sports Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and a member of the South Carolina Medical Association. He specializes in complex knee and shoulder injuries, hip and ankle arthroscopy, and is certified in Advanced Cartilage Restoration Techniques. Dr. Redmond also serves as an assistant professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and provides resident instruction in sports medicine to the Prisma/Greenville Health System Orthopedic Residency Program.
