Brooks R. Keeshin
About us
Dr. Keeshin is a Professor of Pediatrics and the Associate Vice Chair of Research in Child Mental Health at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute. A child abuse pediatrician and child psychiatrist clinician researcher, he provides clinical care to children and adolescents with histories of child abuse and other traumatic experiences at Primary Children’s Center for Safe and Healthy Families. Dr. Keeshin receives funding for research and projects from SAMHSA, PCORI, NIMH and the State of Utah, all in the areas of trauma and suicide prevention. Dr. Keeshin directs Pediatric Integrated Post-trauma Services (PIPS), a SAMHSA funded center of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network focused on empowering frontline pediatric providers to detect and respond to youth at risk for traumatic stress and suicide. Dr. Keeshin helped to develop and is the director of the Utah Psychotropic Oversight Program (UPOP). UPOP is a statewide program in Utah that proactively ensures that all youth receiving psychiatric care in the foster care and juvenile justice systems are receiving locally delivered care that is safe and evidence based. Within the Intermountain Health system, Dr. Keeshin is the Medical Director overseeing the integration of Measurement Based Care within the Behavioral Health Clinical Program. Dr. Keeshin is the co-chair of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Child Maltreatment and Violence Committee and is a member of the AAP Council on Healthy Mental and Emotional Development Executive Committee.
