There are many other places in the area that are newer and cheaper. I have stayed here for a few years and things seem to get worse every year. I have finally decided to leave.
The insulation is horrible and you can see outside from under your doors. Be prepared for an absurdly high energy bill. Your water bill is not based on the amount of water you use! They take the amount of water your building uses and force you to pay a percentage based off the square footage of your apartment! As if the size of your apartment has anything to do with the amount of water you use! The upgrades are no more than a polished turd. They are currently not allowing some tenants to renew their lease. This is because they want to upgrade their apartment. This way they can charge even more to the next people. My rent increase this year was 18%!!!! And for the additional money, what do I get? Nothing. In fact, managements response was everybody is doing it. As if this makes it okay. The office is not willing to work with you at all. The only responses I receive from them are if I help you, then I have to help everybody, we're running a business, we're here to make money, and my favorite, sorry, we have to do what corporate tells us. If this is true, then corporate could save money by firing them and let residence talk directly to corporate. Maybe then they could save some money and not ask for more from residents. Also, be aware of their renewal letters. They intentionally place additional monthly charges outside of what they consider your new rent. Although trash collection, cable and pet fees are not optional, they place it elsewhere on the renewal sheet. To make it look like your rent is less than it actually is. There will be another mass exodus from Camden this year. Of course, they don't care. According to them, if you don't pay the rent, someone else will. DO NOT choose this place as your new home! You will regret it.
