I called to schedule an appointment for depression in January of 2009. I do not have health insurance and was willing to pay the $160 for the initial appointment to receive help. After giving the secretary my information, including the reason why I wanted an appointment, she looked at her records and noticed that I had an initial appointment in 12/2007 that I missed. She said it is their policy that if you miss your first appointment, they will not reschedule you. Considering that I was willing to pay $160 out of pocket, that I was going there for depression (I was crying on the phone), and the missed appointment happened over a year ago, they could have let it slide. Also, as I recall, when I made the initial appt., it was over 2 months before they could see me and I needed to see someone immediately. Seeing how their lack of concern for a potential patient who is suffering from severe depression did not phase them in the least, I am quite happy they refused to see me because of a missed initial appointment. I don't want to see any doctor that does not care for a patient like this and has complete disregard for the mental well-being of a patient.
