An evidence-based intervention, MAT combines prescription medication and counseling to help people successfully end opioid use and begin the process of long-term recovery. Respected organizations such as the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recommend MAT as an effective form of opioid addiction treatment. Additionally, MAT services have been offered for years in methadone clinics around the country.
