About us
Dia Waguespack, MD, is a dedicated, board-certified, and fellowship-trained nephrologist. Her clinical and research interests focus on treating and managing glomerulonephritis, chronic kidney disease, and home dialysis therapies for end-stage kidney disease. A strong advocate for a patient-centered approach, Waguespack takes the time to listen to her patients’ concerns and works collaboratively with them to create personalized treatment plans. Her goal is to ensure that each patient feels supported, informed, and involved in their care. She believes educating patients about their conditions is key to helping them manage their health and achieve the best possible outcomes.
Waguespack is an associate professor in the Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Deeply committed to medical education, she serves as the program director for the Nephrology Fellowship Program at the medical school and the course director for the First Year Medical Student Renal Module, where she is actively involved in curriculum development and undergraduate and graduate medical education. Her dedication to teaching excellence was recognized in 2024 when she received the Herbert L. and Margaret W. DuPont Master Clinical Teaching Award.
She earned her medical degree from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and completed her internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Waguespack is an Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society member and a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology, reflecting her commitment to advancing nephrology and high-quality patient care. She is passionate about improving patient quality of life, advancing nephrology through clinical practice and education, and fostering an empathetic and compassionate environment for all her patients. She has been involved in multiple clinical trials to improve patient outcomes.
