What To Expect When You Arrive

•You and your pet will be met by the front desk staff and a member of our medical team.

•Your pet may be taken immediately to the back if initial triage indicates immediate action may be needed and you’ll be asked to fill out admitting paperwork.

•If other pets are also in the clinic, all cases will be stabilized and prioritized based on our training, experience and the nature of the emergencies. Please be supportive of other pet owners and their pets. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

•Once your pet is admitted, a member of our medical staff will sit with you to discuss your pet’s condition and recommended treatment options and fees.

•If your pet needs to stay with us for follow-up care, please discuss visitations with our staff. In some cases, a visit may interrupt treatment and may not be in your pet’s best interest

Biography
Peter Matthew Koplos is originally from Houston, TX. Dr. Koplos is a graduate from Texas A&M university class of 1992. He moved to El Paso in 1997 to pursue a full time career in Emergency Medicine at the El Paso Animal Emergency Center. He has been a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care society for many years. In addition to his regular work at the AEC, Dr. Koplos works closely with the El Paso Zoo as a contract veterinarian. An avid aquarium hobbyist, one of his favorite activities includes maintaining and expanding the 550 gallon Coral Reef aquarium located in the clinic’s waiting room. Other interests include reptiles and he maintains a collection of large tortoises, some of which he has had for over a decade. Fly fishing, and native plant horticulture and gardening are other avocations. He currently resides in El Paso, TX with his wife and three children and an ever changing menagerie of pets.
