Diabetes is a condition caused when your body is unable to produce enough, or any, insulin, which causes elevated levels of glucose in the blood. If left untreated, it can cause very serious complications, including heart disease, and kidney, eye and nerve damage.
Diabetes can come in several forms, but with the right help you can easily learn how to live with, and manage, your diabetes diagnosis. The physicians and diabetes education team at the Elkhart General Hospital Diabetes Program will work with you to create a care plan that is right for you.
