Dr. Emmi Scott is a clinical neuropsychologist and assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at MUSC. Dr. Scott completed her doctorate in Health Psychology from East Carolina University and residency in rehabilitation neuropsychology at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. She joined MUSC to complete her fellowship in the Memory and Movement Disorders divisions of Neurology, where she obtained specialist training in the neuropsychology of neurodegenerative diseases.
Dr. Scott specializes in evaluating adults with changes in memory, thinking abilities, or behavior. Her clinical interests include the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, frontotemporal dementia, primary progressive aphasia) and differentiating these from "normal" aging or functional neurological disorders. Because cognitive disorders can be very challenging to understand and manage, she dedicates ample time to discuss diagnoses and treatment recommendations with patients and their family members during their appointments.
