Gastons Garage

My alternator failed on my truck and I took it to Gaston's. I told the service manager the problem. Without introducing himself, a mechanic walked to my vehicle and made a comment about my Exide battery,as if it was substandard. I told him the problem was the alternator and returned home where I received a call from the service manager who quoted $400 dollars to replace the alternator and belt. I assumed the alternator price was expensive and told him to go ahead with the repair. I also asked him to do an oil change and change the other belts. When I went to pick up the truck, my bill was approximately $450 total, $240 of it labor with a neighborhood discount. When I asked if it took 2.5 hours(of 3 hours total labor) to replace the alternator, the service manager said that's what the book calls for I told him the last replacement of the alternator took the mechanic 45 minutes at most. He said nothing. I paid and felt ripped off. I will not return.
