It is currently very difficult to find a dog diet that is not labeled grain-free! This trend toward grain-free started several years ago. There are commercials comparing our pets to wolves... also many individuals in pet stores, online, etc claiming that dogs are unable to digest grains. Many are also concerned that their dog's allergic disease is exacerbated by the grain in diets. All of the above reasons are based on half-truths. Our pet dogs are far from wolves - they are less active, do not typically rely on hunting for their food, and are prone to being overweight. Your typical grain-free food tends to be much higher in calories and much lower in fiber.
