Glymont Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary hospital. We offer a full range of medical care for all types of pets including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, pocket pets (small mammals), and even fish. We believe the best medicine is preventive medicine. Our goal is to keep your pet active and healthy for as long as possible. This involves regular thorough physical exams, customized vaccine schedules (we use the safest vaccines available), regular parasite exams & preventatives, routine blood work when your pet is older, and outstanding client education. We specialize in personalized care. We schedule thirty-minute appointment times for any sick animal and for initial puppy and kitten visits. We always listen to your concerns and input about your pet. Our goals are to do our best to give you and your pet our undivided attention and to make you welcome and comfortable during any visit to our hospital. We also strive to provide you with understandable answers to your questions and a complete explanation of our services and recommendations involving your pet. Veterinary Services Routine Vaccinations & Deworming: We recommend an appropriate wellness care schedule for your pet based upon age and lifestyle. Please visit our Pet Care pages for more information. Wellness & Preventative Medicine: We recommend an annual physical exam for pets under 8 years of age and twice yearly for pets that have reached their golden years. Keep in mind that some age related diseases caught in the early stages can often be controlled through medications and even simple dietary changes. Exotic Pet Care: Exotic pets are susceptible to many diseases. Causes range from infections to nutritional problems. Dental disease also occurs. Routine examinations are important in detecting and treating disease early in its course. Micro-chipping: We strongly urge that you obtain an i.d. tag to be attached to your pet’s collar. We also offer more permanent identification with the Home Again Microchip. The chip is the size of a grain of rice and is inserted underneath the skin. The i.d number and owner information is then registered with the AKC. If a pet is lost and recovered, the number can be read by any agency or veterinarian who has a chip scanner and the owner can then be traced. Senior Medicine: We wish to keep our pets healthy and happy for as long as possible and this can be achieved through exercise, a healthy diet and regular veterinary check ups. Aging changes such as arthritis, vision and hearing losses are normal and cannot be prevented. Many changes related to disease, however, can be managed and treated successfully if detected early. In addition to the routine preventative care for adult dogs and cats, we recommend an annual health monitoring that includes the collection of a blood sample and laboratory analysis for detection of liver and kidney disease, diabetes and anemia. Included is interpretation of results and consultation with one of our veterinarians to discuss any recommendations we may have. Spays / Neuters Breeding & Reproductive Health, Artificial Insemination Ear Cropping, Tail Docking, Declaw OFA and USDA Certifications Dental Care: Most dogs and cats eventually need a professional dental cleaning using an ultrasonic scaler such as your dentist might use. All dental procedures are performed using the same inhalation anesthetic and careful monitoring techniques that we use for our surgical patients. Many pets have their teeth cleaned on an annual basis to help ensure optimal oral health. Nutritional Counseling: Your pet's nutritional requirements will change as they grow into adulthood and again when they reach their senior years. We can help you make the right choices for your pet's nutritional needs based upon its age, activity levels, and overall health.
