Gordon's Jewelers in Elmhurst, Queens is fantastic. I am a heavy jeweler shopper who rather shop in city. However, I went to Queens Center Mall (due to timing limitation) and received the typical horrendous customer service from Zales. I'm extremely personable and patient but was still treated like I was of nescience ... to add that the store manager, Mr. Valentine, was less attentive or caring that the associates busy and in disarray.
That place is such a hit or miss (more miss) and the one memorable guy (Ricky) who helped me in February of this year was not there. But God is good, as I left the store feeling upset I saw the familiar face at Gordon's Jewerly Store, right downstairs, 1st floor of mall.
It was Ricky! He told me Gordon’s was part owned by Zales and explained the differential advantage of both store brands. I worked with him for over 40 min's. He absolutely gave me sound which lead to new creative gift ideas. He went beyond; going so far as to introduce me to a delightful young lady, Lizzy. The two associates engaged in real dialog. They discussed and challenged each others' thoughts. They also tried different means and used internet resources all in sake of me receiving great values.
My advice is to be nice to those associates you find willing to offer traditional service and to remember their names. Call the store for their schedule or make an appointment to avoid feeling denigrated by the manager.
