Physical Therapy is a traditional treatment methodology aimed at the treatment and curing of certain ailments, and preventing the chances of reoccurrence of the same. Its primary aim is to bring back the patients to his/her normal self, free of any pain or sufferings, so that he/she could then onwards lead a normal life by performing all the daily activities with minimal or no difficulty.

Physical Therapy covers a wide spectrum of ailments affecting all ages. It is used to recover from orthopedic surgeries (knee, hip, spinal and shoulder surgeries, etc.), treat neurological issues (stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Cerebral Palsy, Etc) and especially improve strength, walking, balance and overall function. It is effective in managing chronic pain from things such as arthritis, low back pain, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain Syndrome, etc.

In certain cases, some diseases or medical conditions impair the patient so much that it becomes necessary to teach the patient to function optimally within the limitations of the condition, by building on the residual capabilities left in the patient. Physical Therapy is effective in such circumstances as well, and with treatment under the supervision of a skilled therapist, it is possible for the patient to regain a major share of the mobility of his/her joints, achieve flexibility, and acquire better balance, strength and coordination as far as his/her overall self is concerned. Apart from this, Physical Therapy also helps in significantly improving the overall fitness and health of the patient.

Great Lakes Therapy A big thank you to all the staff. I was the unfortunate recipient of multiple fractures, following a snowmobile accident on March 5th 2013. I arrived at Orchard Creek on March 18th, and my therapies began that day. I could not even turn over in bed. On June 14 I was discharged walking with a walker, full weight bearing. I credit the OT & PT staff with my recovery to that status. The PT and OT staff worked tirelessly with me. Their skill and patience is outstanding. I walked into my home because of them.. They are a super group of people, who always had smiles and patience with me. When I was discharged home, the home health people evaluated me and declared that they did not need to work with me because of my strength and knowledge of the exercises, that I needed. I will always be grateful to the staff of Great Lakes Therapy and the staff of Orchard Creek, for my full recovery. Love from LS the 73 yr old snowmobiling grandmother.

Stacey Walton did wonders for me! I tore my A.C.L (among other things) in my right knee back in January. I had my surgery in February, now it's on September and I'm ready to start playing basketball again. Love that Stacey!

Jim Harvey is not only a Physical Therapist, but an active athlete that understands from his own experiences what the body is capable of, and more importantly, what it takes to repair/heal it. As an exercise enthusiast myself, I consult Jim frequently on how to heal my body after years of exercise, some good, some not so good. He always has the right suggestions and PT recommendations to get me better and back to my exercise regiment.
