Education:
I earned a Bachelors of Acts (BA) in two social science fields, political science and marketing, from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches TX, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Dallas in Irving TX, and a Masters of Science (MS) in Counseling from Texas A & M University in Corpus Christi. I am currently pursuing doctorate studies in the psychology of happiness.

Experience:
I have been a licensed professional counselor (LPC) for over 20 years and have worked with clients of all ages and varied backgrounds. Just over 10 years ago, I became a licensed professional counselor supervisor (LPC-Supervisor) allowing me to clinically supervise LPC-Interns seeking permanent licensure. I have provided counseling to individuals, couples, families, groups, as well as foster and potentially adoptive children and teens. I have counseled clients with minor life stressors to those who are dealing with major mental health diagnoses. My style has been to collaboratively help clients develop useful coping skills in a manner that they can use for themselves.

Treatment Approaches and Interests:
I help clients using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a particular focus on Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) techniques, but I borrow heavily from Family Systems, Mindfulness and Spiritual Counseling as requested, and other holistic approaches to wellness. I view clients as the masters of their own lives, and my role is to guide, educate, inform, support, and encourage them in that discovery. I am also currently exploring the role of happiness and resiliency through the relatively new field of Positive Psychology as it intersects Spiritual Psychology. I provide a safe, collaborative, and supportive environment where I can contribute to a person’s well being and perhaps, even a new way of looking at a situation with new eyes.

Hobbies/Outside Interests:
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, physical exercise, reading, doing meditation, and I have a side interest in applying counseling methods to help organizations of people function more smoothly and increase employee happiness.
