Hemsted's Moving and Storage

To whom it may concern,

I just recently had the experience of dealing with this company, Hemsted's Moving and Storage out of Redding, CA. I have money to spend to move and willing to go with a company that would make me feel at ease because, let's face it, moving to begin with is extremely stressful. However, I have never dealt with someone as rude as the owner of this company, Bob Wilson. In my opinion, he immediately made me feel that I was an inconvenience to him just by talking on the phone. I decided to push forward to the next step of the home evaluation. To start, he was 30 minutes late without a courtesy call. In my opinion, if there is traffic or any sort of hold up, the owner should know better and call his client to inform of his late arrival, without any attitude.
As we started to get into the details he interrupted me when I asked simple questions- things that I needed to know for peace of mind. He made a point to tell me he's been in this business for 30 years- at least a dozen times. In my opinion, it wasn't the answer I was looking for. I felt that he was talking down to me- I know I am a young woman but I reserve the right to be treated respectfully. And again, in my opinion, he made me feel that he was just too busy to help me. As a sales-woman myself I fully understand it's better to over-quote than under-quote. However, when a client asks me details about the quotes I am giving I take the time to make sure they understand their pricing. After all, it's quite a lot of money to move and I want to understand how I am being quoted. Mr. Wilson felt that I was attempting to negotiate pricing and in my opinion, again, made me feel that I was not being listened to.

I strongly encourage anyone who is looking to move to think twice about using this company. I have 3 friends looking to move in the next month (using me as their guinea pig) and they will no doubt be working with another business after I tell them how I was treated. I already have spoken to two other companies willing to come to my home tomorrow for an estimate. Both were extremely considerate and patient with my questions. I will be sure to let those in my area moving know there are other options- despite what Mr. Wilson had to say which was good luck. I am an honest person raised with morals and manners. I have never written a review about any company before but I felt I had to express my experience with this company to warn future consumers.
