About Hillcrest Dental To maintain your oral health, routine visits need to be scheduled according to your needs. The doctor or hygienist will inform you of what your individual needs are. However, these visits will only allow the removal of plaque and calculus which have accumulated since your previous visit. In between these visits, you need to practice good home care. Use the instructions you were given from the office. This means not only brushing your teeth consistently, but correctly flossing every day. Flossing is the only way to remove the plaque between teeth and under gums, which can help prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath.
