About us

Welcome to Industrial Strength! Industrial Strength's mission is to provide a fitness facility that positively and realistically simulates the work environment. We will bridge the gap between injury and return to work by fostering excellent work ethics, a functional approach to pain, and correct body mechanics through the education of the patient. Scott and Kristina Lounsberry each began their careers in the athletic realm. Scott launched his career with the Lake Charles Ice Pirates in 1997. Shortly after, he expanded his minor league experience to include the Louisiana Outlaws. Kristina headed to Eunice and began performing high school outreach, and in 2000 was the head trainer for the inaugural season of the Lake Charles Landsharks. Both trainers worked in outpatient physical therapy clinics in the off-season. Even though they worked in different towns, they both noticed the difference in the rehab of athletes and 'traditional patients.' From there, Industrial Strength was born. Their vision was to create a facility for the working athlete. This was achieved by creating functional based rehab programs that focused on return to play or work. In 2000, they began offering functional capacity evaluations, personal training, and second phase rehab. Continuing to base their new clinic on the athletic model, they saw a need for prevention. An industrial evaluation that would mimic a preseason physical. In 2002, Industrial Strength extended services by signing affiliations with WorkSTEPS and Worksavers. These individualized assessments, both pre-employment and return-to-work, ensure that the right employee is placed in the right position and that any deficits in returning employees are addressed. The need for expansion continued in 2003. Kristina completed her physical therapy degree and Industrial Strength expanded again, adding a Sulphur location. The expansion also included offering Job Site Analysis. With certifications from WorkSTEPS and the Back School of Atlanta, they began performing job site analysis and writing functional job descriptions. These are used to construct employment tests, accommodate existing employees, and assist ADA compliance. Industrial StrengthÕs patient load increased as the athletic model received recognition from physicians, employers, and case managers. This led to Scott earning his PTA license. Now with both Scott and Kristina carrying a full patient load, the company began treating more acute patients. So the couple searched for aggressive treatment techniques. They purchased a set of myofascial tools called the Graston Techinque, which reduced the time required for tissue remodeling. In order to increase their knowledge and better educate their patients, they started working towards a McKenzie MDT certification. Our past experiences have shaped the company to what it stands for today. Industrial Strength Work Rehabilitation Center is dedicated to the worker. We are able to effectively assess physical requirements and return employees safely and efficiently to work and play.
