About us

J. Benjamin Tribble, MD, received his medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed his general surgery residency at Wake Forest University Medical Center/Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He served as chief resident before joining South Carolina Surgical Associates in Columbia.

Dr. Tribble is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a past chief of surgery and chief of staff at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital and is a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, the American Medical Association, the Columbia Medical Society, the South Carolina Medical Association and the American Society for General Surgeons.

Tribble's areas of special interest are laparoscopic surgery (including reflux and obesity surgery) and vascular surgery. He focuses on the treatment and management of morbid obesity at the Prisma Health Weight Management Center, where he was one of the the first physicians in the Midlands region to perform the weight-loss procedure laparoscopically.
