Hello! I’m Kajin and I am a Registered and Licensed Dietitian. I graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition (Dietetics). I completed my dietetic internship with Priority Nutrition Care Distance Dietetic Internship, an accredited program based in Boston. During my internship program, I had the opportunity to work with a variety of age groups including children, adults, and older adults. I provided nutrition education and counseling as well as medical nutrition therapy to patients in long-term care and rehabilitation settings. I also worked with a local school district where I collaborated with the Food & Nutrition Services team to ensure that nutritious meals are being served throughout the district. In addition, I worked with the Head Start/Early Head Start program where I developed nutrition education material/lessons to be used in the classrooms.
I believe that a lifestyle which supports the consumption of a variety of foods, along with healthy habits (regular exercise), is the foundation for achieving overall health and wellness. When certain foods are eliminated or restricted from one’s diet, nutritional deficiencies may develop over time, leading to further complications. With a varied diet; however, you are more likely to obtain the nutrients that your body needs. With that being said, I do not believe in diets. I want to guide my clients/patients in making informed decisions about their health. My goal as a Registered Dietitian is to help my clients/patients reach their nutrition and health needs in a manner that both, respects and considers their lifestyle, cultural background, and religious food preferences.
In my spare time: I enjoy cooking, watching Fixer Upper, and visiting local coffee shops. I absolutely love discovering new restaurants (supporting local businesses is something that I am passionate about). I also love food photography/landscape photography. On the weekends, I enjoy visiting my local farmers market!
