Karina B. Samaniego Estrada, Ph.D.
About us
Specialties: As a generalist psychologist, I provide counseling and psychological testing services to adults, children, and adolescents. I utilize a variety of modalities including: individual, group, and couples/family therapy to treat a wide-range of concerns, such as: daily stressors, emotional distress, behavioral problems, issues related to trauma and abuse, interpersonal conflict, etc.
Given the many different therapeutic approaches/treatments that exist, as well as the limited research to support many of those approaches’ effectiveness, my goal is to provide high-quality services utilizing evidence-based (when available) or empirically-supported interventions specifically designed for the presenting issue, while considering the unique needs and preferences of each client. Thus, I continually seek education and further training in relevant treatments and methods to benefit my clients.
I obtained my doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Counseling Psychology through an APA-Accredited program at the University of Northern Colorado. My training and experience include providing psychological services primarily using approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and others as deemed appropriate for each client. I believe in a client’s right to be informed about their treatment options before allowing professional intervention, and will strive to guide each client in making that decision.
