Kathryn (Katy) Mitra is an advanced practice nurse with over two decades of experience in the health care field. After many years as a bedside and an advanced practice nurse in cardiology, critical care, and vascular surgery, she transitioned to electrophysiology, or heart rhythm disorders. She believes the partnership between patients and providers is key to healing and one of the most important things she can do as a provider is to communicate clearly.
The electrophysiology team helps to manage abnormal heart rhythms with treatments like medications, lifestyle changes, ablations, and implantable cardiac devices like pacemakers, defibrillators, and loop recorders.
Many of the conditions we treat can be potentially frightening or upsetting for individuals. Katy enjoys being able to help alleviate some of the potential fears by educating patients and their loved ones and walking them through what the treatment plan will look like and answering some of the real-life questions that come up.
