About us
Keely Ulmer, M.D., is a Gynecologic Oncologist at the Cancer Care Institute in Rapid City Hospital. In addition to being a Gynecologic Oncology fellow, Dr. Ulmer was also Administrative Chief Resident and a Resident Physician in Obstetrics & Gynecology at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. She attained her Medical Doctorate, graduating summa cum laude, from University of South Dakota in Vermillion. As an undergraduate, Dr. Ulmer attended Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D. from which she graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Chemistry and achieved All-America honors on the women’s basketball team.
A member of Oglala Lakota Sioux Nation raised in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Dr. Ulmer is a person of varied, distinguished experience, such as working as a forest firefighter for the Bureau of Land Management and as a livestock manager. Dr. Ulmer has also frequently served as a mentor and student health volunteer for underserved and native populations.
Outside of work, Dr. Ulmer enjoys spending time with her family, canning, and helping her husband on their ranch.
