These honors mean so much to us, and we look forward to continue providing our clients with only the BEST in animal companion care! Welcome to Lakeland Veterinary Hospital! Lakeland Veterinary Hospital has been serving the Brainerd Lakes Region for more than 40 years. Our current veterinary medical facility has been our home-base since the year 2000, when it was built by local architects for the specific purpose of being a functional and modern veterinary practice. Our facility has a spacious parking lot to accommodate all of our clients and their pets. Our practice has proudly been AAHA-accredited since 1999. We carry a variety of pet foods and products that can conveniently be purchased in-house. Our team members are friendly, helpful, and committed to providing you with a superior client experience. Part of your pets physical includes an oral exam. Did you know dental disease is about more than doggy breath, it’s about your pet’s complete health! Oral bacteria puts pets at risk for painful teeth and gums, and more serious issues like organ damage. Dr. Kelly examines her patients teeth for any signs of dental disease. This sweet pooch is all smiles for his visit with us! To help keep her patient's smile healthy, Dr. Erica performs an oral exam! Part of our patients wellness exam is to check the ears, and this adorable pooch was a great patient for Dr. Erica as she conducted the ear exam. Dr. Piepgras uses a stethoscope to listen to a patient’s heart and lungs, which is also part of our patient's physical exams. When we say 'tip of the nose to the tip of the tail exam,' we mean it, and Dr. Piepgras is doing just that. Here, Dr. Piepgras examines a pet’s eyes for unusual coloration, discharge, proper light response, and more. Did you know we offer digital radiography (aka X-Ray)? From a diagnostic perspective, x-rays serve as an invaluable role in veterinary medicine. They provide a view of the heart, lungs, and musculoskeletal system of the animal and visualize any deformities or abnormalities. How sweet is this pup's face! There's nothing quite like kitty snuggles to make the day absolutely purr-fect ;) When a dental exam reveals concerns, we proceed by recommending a dental cleaning. We perform our dental cleanings with the help of an ultrasonic scaler to remove plaque and tartar. Because the machine can be noisy, and we must access the area below the gumline, we will use a general anesthetic to safely perform the procedure. During the cleaning, we will scrape and scale the surface of the teeth, and then polish the teeth to leave a smooth surface, which will discourage future plaque from developing. For further diagnostic information, full-mouth dental x-ray radiography can be used to view the teeth, surrounding bones, and tissues of the mouth below the gumline, where the majority of dental disease is found. These x-ray’s can help us find underlying issues we would otherwise not know about. Lakeland Veterinary Hospital contains a full on-site diagnostic laboratory to provide accurate and timely results for blood work and lab samples. For rare tests, samples may need to be analyzed in a separate reference laboratory. This adorable pup is all smiles for his grooming appointment! The grooming professionals at Lakeland Veterinary Hospital can help to keep your pet fresh, clean, and feeling their best. Regularly grooming your pet has many benefits, not only for hygienic reasons, but also for their health and comfort.
