The HISTORY OF LARRY'S DINER

Larry's Diner has been in business for 27 years. Gus Alexopoulus and his partner, who died several years ago, started the diner.

Alexopoulus said setting up shop in Plainfield made a lot of sense.

"We live in Plainfield," he said.

Larry's Diner serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The establishment comes equipped with a banquet hall that holds up to 100 people, and an outdoor dining area for spring and summer enjoyment.

From grilled cheese and the porterhouse steak to Parmesan chicken, patrons have a plethora of options.

Alexopoulus said the diner is committed to ensuring that "everybody is happy" when they drop in.

"I have good reviews," he said.

Alexopoulus credits the success of his business over the years to having "good food, service, a clean place, and good hospitality."

OUR BUILDING

Rumor has it there was originally a farmstand located on our corner, that began selling meals. A small roadside diner was constructed with a gravel lot. Eventually carhops would take your order and bring your food right to the car. Trays hung from your window and you ate in the comfort of your own car.

Several additions were made to the building over time, just ask us (we are glad to show you where the original building is!)

Last year (in 2018) we invested over $100,000 in improvements and replaced aging systems. Roof, sewers plumbing and more. As you know, with any older building things wear out and need to be replaced. We did just that! Our overall decor remains the same, with our working fireplace on cold days and outdoor dining area available when warm.
