About us

Layla M. Ghergherehchi, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained ophthalmologist providing comprehensive medical and surgical care to infants and children. Her specialties range from pediatric and adult strabismus to general pediatric ophthalmology, including amblyopia management, congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction, retinopathy of prematurity, and optic nerve hypoplasia.
She believes in building strong, professional relationships with all of her patients, their families, and other caretakers. As part of her commitment to providing exceptional care, she looks forward to helping her patients understand their condition through education, open communication, and empathy.
Gharaybeh is  an assistant professor and Bernice Weingarten Chair in Ophthalmology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
She completed medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch in 2013. She completed her residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2017 and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Oregon Health and Science University’s Casey Eye Institute in 2018.
Ghergherehchi is fluent in English and Arabic. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family.
