About us

Lisa Chen, MD, FACS, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained colon and rectal surgeon. She treats patients of all ages, focusing on nonsurgical options first and surgery as a second choice. She believes in listening to her patients, understanding their concerns, and helping them achieve their goals.
Chen is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
She’s a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Harris County Medical Society, and the Texas Medical Association.
She has received numerous awards throughout her career, including Castle Connelly Top Doctors 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016; Vitals Patients Choice Award 2013; Health & Fitness Sports Magazine’s Doctor’s Choice 2009; and the Consumer Research Council of America’s Top Physicians 2004-2005.
Outside of work, Chen enjoys knitting, karate, yoga, and spending time with her husband and two children.
