Mrs. Fuentes was inspired to pursue a career in health care by her mother, a migrant camp health aid. She saw how her mother helped people and wanted to make that kind of difference in people's lives. Mrs. Fuentes chose family medicine so she could care for people of al Mrs. Fuentes was born in McAllen, Texas, and raised in Monte Alto. She studied nursing at the University of Texas Pan-American.
