Mark J. Truty, M.D., M.S., is a hepatobiliary and pancreas surgeon and surgical oncologist at Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Truty treats conditions and cancers of the pancreas, liver, bile duct, gallbladder, gastric, small bowel and soft tissue sarcomas with a specialty in complex or advanced pancreatic, hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal cancers. He is an expert in minimally invasive surgery of the liver, intestine and pancreas, laparoscopic surgery, the Whipple procedure and postoperative care of hepatobiliary disease. He is known for his novel approaches to the preoperative treatment of tumors in order to improve surgery outcomes and to offer curative intent operations for patients with advanced tumors that other surgeons have deemed inoperable. He is dedicated to minimizing postoperative complications in patients undergoing complex gastrointestinal cancer surgery in order to improve overall survival and quality of life.
